How can a Professional Parliamentarian help you?

A professional parliamentarian can serve your organization as a Meeting Parliamentarian, Convention Consultant, Written Parliamentary Opinions, Bylaws Writing and Interpretation, Parliamentary Procedure Workshops, and serving as a Professional Presiding Officer.

I'm Rod G. Davidson, Professional Parliamentarian, and webmaster for ParliPro Professional Parliamentary Services. I am proud to be a member of both the National Association of Parliamentarians and the American Institute of Parliamentarians. Additional information about parliamentary procedure and Robert's Rules of Order can be found at and on Robert's Rules Online. Send us an e-mail if you have any questions about the services offered by ParliPro Professional Parliamentary Services. Thanks for visiting!

According to Robert's Rules of Order, parliamentary procedure is based on the consideration of the rights of the majority, the rights of the minority (especially a large minority greater than one-third), the rights of individual members, the rights of absentee members, and the rights of all of these groups taken together.

The information presented on this website is believed to be accurate and is intended to provide some of the basics of parliamentary procedure, but is not intended to be complete. Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised or RONR for short is a 704 page reference book, where you can find the facts and details about things that spark your interest.

Here are a some testimonials:
•"Rod, the Board was quite impressed with the professional opinion presented to them. There was never a question after that as to the correct procedure and it solved the problem."
•"I felt so secure having you there and am sure they will use you again next year."
•"You will never truly know what an asset you were to the president and to us at our state convention. I want to thank you for the coaching, the script, the parchment for the courtesy resolutions, the demeanor of yourself (which demanded the same respect be shown to the chair) and the way you quietly helped everyone at the microphone."

Parliamentary Procedure: What does it mean and why is it important?

Parliamentary Procedure is a set of rules for conducting business at meetings and public gatherings. If the bylaws of an organization specify Robert's Rules of Order as the adopted parliamentary authority, the most current edition of the work of Henry M. Robert is Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (RONR), 11th Edition, which is the truly definitive source of information about parliamentary procedure and is the basic handbook for many clubs, organizations and other groups.

Can't we all just get along?

According to Robert’s Rules of Order, Parliamentary procedure is based on the consideration members' rights: RONR is based on the...
 ...rights of the majority,
...rights of the minority (especially a large minority greater than
 one-third),  ...rights of individual members,
 ...rights of absentee members,
...rights of all of these groups taken together.

 It is important because:
“The application of parliamentary law is the best method yet devised to enable assemblies of any size, with due regard for every member’s opinion, to arrive at the general will on the maximum number of questions of varying complexity in a minimum amount of time and under all kinds of internal climate ranging from total harmony to hardened or impassioned division of opinion.”
RONR (11th ed.), Introduction, p. lii

As time goes by, we will be adding additional interactive features to this website, designed to test one's knowledge, as well as other material designed to inform and educate on the basics of parliamentary procedure. Come back often and check on our progress.
